Joanne's Trip to Italy!
Joanne, our hygienist has been with Jasmine Dental Care for well over 10 years. It has always been her dream to visit Italy. Two years ago, serious planning began and her dream came true in September!
Her trip included visits to Venice, the Cinque terra, II Castagno (and many other Tuscan Towns), Assisi, Rome, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.
It is hard to pick the highlights since she loved it all! At their Villa in Tuscany, she was proposed to after 13 1/2 years dating Roger! There will be a wedding next summer.
Italy is a beautiful country. The people are so giving, warm and friendly. It was truly more than she even imagined. Seeing the Pope was amazing. There are so many intricate churches and so much art history in Italy. Food was delicious. Scenery was gorgeous and she often felt like she was living in a beautiful postcard.
Baby Updates!
Well, it’s been awhile since the office blog has been updated. Wow! A whole year has passed. Chelsea and Shaira are both back from their back-to-back maternity leaves. Chelsea now has a 1 year old (and a 3 1/2 year old) and Shaira is busy preparing for Kiana's upcoming 1st Birthday. Here are some pictures to get you caught up on the office babies.

Baby News
There's been a lot of excitement at Jasmine Dental Care. If you haven't already heard (or seen the office baby bumps), Chelsea and Shaira are both expecting! Chelsea and her husband are expecting their second child (another little boy!) in March. Shaira and her husband are expecting their first child (a sweet little girl!) in June. Both ladies have been feeling great and glowing with excitement as they enter a new stage in their life.
Welcome Amber Kylee!
Many patients have noticed that Autumn has been missing from the office. Well, after the birth of her second baby she has been at home enjoying lots of cuddles from her girls!
Autumn and her husband received a Thanksgiving surprise! Baby Amber Kylee arrived on November 28th at 6:17 am, weighing a whopping 9lbs 5 oz!
Big sister Alise is adjusting well to her new role. She even brought Baby Amber in to show her off to the rest of the office!
Shaira and Julio Tie the Knot!
On Saturday August 10th the Jasmine Dental Care staff, along with 350 other guests, gathered to celebrate the marriage of Shaira and Julio! It was a beautiful Wedding and the ceremony was a blast! For us girls at the office, it was the first time we got the chance to witness a traditional Hispanic wedding! Thankfully, Shaira taught us all a few salsa dance moves in the weeks leading up to the Wedding because she made sure all of us were out on the dance floor at some point! Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, Shaira was glowing, and Julio was clearly one happy man.
They enjoyed their honeymoon in Maui relaxing on the beach, taking surfing lessons, snorkeling, and even braved the Road to Hanna.
Summertime Fun!
Each year, we plan a ladies day out for our summer office party! It's a fun day were there is only one rule: NO “SHOP” TALK! Thats right, we make it a point to laugh, tell stories, enjoy each others company and leave work behind!
This year we started out the day with an easy hike at Mary S. Young Park in West Linn. None of us were familiar with the trails (which were not clearly marked) and none of us have ever claimed to be experts in directions (after all this is the era of GPS!). We are pretty sure we circled the same trail that led us back to the parking lot 8 times over! It may not have been the most scenic hike but we still got in a little sun and exercise which was the initial goal in the first place. After our hike, we were pampered with pedicures. Nothing say's summertime like a little relaxation and cute toes, right?! With colorful summery toes, we were off to dinner to fill our hungry bellies! Dinner and dessert at Tucci's in Lake Oswego was delicious and the service was great. We were so full when we were done, that we decided to walk off our dinner with an evening walk in downtown Lake Oswego.
Us girls always enjoy our summer office party but this year was extra special because Dr. June's youngest daughter, Serena, joined in on all the fun. I think she enjoyed the evening out as much as the rest of us!
You know you have a great team when you can spend all week with the same gals and then look forward to seeing them outside of work as well!

Surprise!
Yesterday we surprised Shaira with a bridal shower. She thought we were all going over to Joanne's house for a girls “movie night” but little did she know we had other plans in store for the evening!
It's not part of the Hispanic culture to include a bridal shower as part of the wedding festivities. So, this was Shaira's one and only shower! We started out with a taco salad bar and drinks for dinner, showered her with gifts for her home, then enjoyed cookies and homemade pie for dessert.
It was extra special to have Amber from Henry Schein and Patty from Esthetic Creations join us for the evening! Oh and not to forget about our one little party crasher, Baby Hanley! He had a great time despite being the only boy at the party.
Thanks to everyone who gathered for such a fun evening together. It really meant a lot to the beautiful bride-to-be!
Shaira's Getting Hitched!
Last year Shaira got engaged to her boyfriend of several years, Julio. Wedding plans have been in the works for well over a year now and the wedding day is rapidly approaching!! This August, Shaira will say "I DO" then jet off to Maui for a Hawaiian honeymoon. What a perfect place to celebrate the beginning of their new life together! Congrats Shaira and Julio on the upcoming wedding! We could be more happy for you two! Check back for Wedding photo's of the happy couple this summer!
Meet Autumn, Our New Hygienist!
Our Monday hygienist, Tami found herself juggling too much on her plate and decided to work fewer days. Although it was a tough decision, she knew it was best for her and her family.
Tami's new schedule opened up an opportunity for our office to work with Autumn. Autumn graduated from OHSU in 2000 with a bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys working with patients and taking the time to educate them about their oral health.
Autumn's passion for dentistry is shared by her husband, who is also a dental hygienist. As you can imagine, Autumn's children (1 year old daughter, and 6 and 8 year old step children) have no chance at all on skipping out on brushing their teeth! Together as a family, many hours out of the summer days are spent being outside walking, biking, swimming, going to the park, and visiting the zoo!
Jamie is Here to Stay!!!
Jamie came to us in the fall of last year to cover for Chelsea's maternity leave. She was such a great addition that we decided to make her a permanent addition to the team!
Although Jamie is originally from sunny Southern California, she found a love for Oregon's true beauty when she moved here almost 20 years ago. Her two children and husband keep her very busy with family activities.
Jamie began her career as a dental assistant 13 years ago but took several years off to stay at home with her children. Now that her kids are older, ages 10 and 7, she is enjoying her work in the dental field once again.
We couldn't be more excited by the fact that Jamie's warm personality and big smile is here to stay!
Announcing Hanley James
Chelsea and her husband Cody welcomed their first child, Hanley, into this world on November 10, 2012! Hanley is a happy, healthy little boy that weighed in at 7lbs 13oz at birth.
He is now 4 months old and nearly 16lbs! Like we mentioned, he's healthy! Chelsea is enjoying motherhood but is getting ready to return back to work at the front desk at the end of the month. She's looking forward to the challenge of being a working mother.
Health Fair
For the second year, our office took part in the Kai USA Health Fair here in Tualatin! Dr. June Xiao and Shaira spent a couple hours mingling with Kai USA employee's passing out samples and office information and providing consults to anyone with specific dental questions. It was a beautiful sunny day for such an event and we were able to reach out to 160 employees!
